Short Description
A device designed to assist with the evacuation of a dependent person from a building in the case of an emergency. The evacuation pod carries one occupant. The occupant is securely enveloped in the pod which has a padded base, head support and two leg and body belts. Two attendants are required to manoeuvre the pod using adjustable straps at each end. Available in two models.

More Details
CONSTRUCTION: The evacuation pod was designed in consultation with physiotherapists, ergonomists and the Metropolitan Fire Safety Training Division.

MATERIALS: The base of the pod is made of a 'slippery' material which enables the occupant to be evacuated over any floor surface and down stairs.

FINISH: Not applicable.

DRIVE CONTROLS: Not applicable.

METHOD OF MOVEMENT: The pod is manoeuvred by attendants using the long adjustable straps at either end, whilst maintaining an upright posture themselves.

AREAS FOR USE: The evacuation pod can be used in the home or in a facility where there is a highly dependent person. It is a means of quick evacuation for a dependent individual.

SECURING OPTIONS: The occupant is secured by leg and body belts.

PORTABILITY: When not in use the pod rolls up to the size of a sleeping bag for transport or storage.
