Method Of Operation
Features a keyed on / off that is situated under the armrest.
For operation a constant pressure toggle switch is situated on armrest, or can be operated by push button remote control (two remote controls are supplied with the stairlift).
The toggle switch incorporates a tremor control, which minimises the risk of accidentally hitting of switch, or due to tremor, causing the stairlift to move inadvertently.
The controls can be mounted on either the left or right armrest. The remote controls can act as a "Call-Send" button to call or send the unit up or down to the charging points at the top and bottom of the stairs.
Short Description
A battery operated stairlift that can be used on straight stairs. It is available with a standard seat or perching seat. It has a rack & pinion drive and the track is floor mounted. Features an onboard diagnostic control panel. Supplier states that they have locally employed assessors and installers/ technicians. Models are available for both indoor and outdoor use.
More Details
SEAT: The seat swivels and lifts-up. It is padded on indoor model and unpadded on outdoor model. A retractable seat belt with buckle is standard on the seated model. The swivel seat allows the user the ability to turn a full 90 degrees when the chair stops at the top of the stairway. This is operated by a lever on the uppermost side of the seat. This means the passenger can exit the lift with both feet on the level landing.
ARMRESTS: Armrests are lift up and unpadded.
FOOTRESTS: The footrest has a slip resistant covering and lifts up when stairlift is not in use to enable other people to safely walk up and down the stairs.
TRACK MOUNTING: The track can be mounted on either side of the stairs. The track is made of aluminium for indoor use and high grade composite steel (made for coastal conditions) for outdoor settings. Track can mounted to carpeted stairs or solid stairs.
POWER: The Acorn stairlift is powered by direct current, supplied by rechargeable batteries. The batteries are maintenance free and charged by a safe 15 volts AC, which is stepped-down from the domestic mains supply by the transformer. The stairlift will continue to operate if there is a power failure.
CHARGER: The stairlift is parked at the bottom or top of the stairs to charge the batteries. The stairlift will be fully charged in approximately 1 hour. There is a audible warning signal to indicate the stairlift is not a charging point when it is stationery.
Safety Features
Features five obstacle sensors on the footrest and track. The lift will stop when a sensor detects an obstacle (eg. object left on stairs, or if foot slips off footrest).
Electronic and mechanical braking systems: The stair lift is fitted as standard with these safety systems to eliminate any possibility of an uncontrolled descent of the stair lift.
Onboard diagnostic control panel indicates a problem area. An LED number display at the side of the unit indicates where a problem is eg 5 = stairlift has been accidentally switched off.

Models: Three models are available:
1. Standard- supplied with a fold up seat.
2. Perching- supplied with a rail for support in a standing position and a perching seat.
3. Outdoor- supplied with a fold up seat and water resistant cover for outdoor use.
