More Details
METHOD OF USE: Detailed fitting instructions come with the sling. The leg straps are adjustable (adjust before lifting) and can be changed to best suit the individual and type of lift. The stitching and 3 pull handles is to be on the outside away from the users body. Slide sling down behind the individual so that the U-shape curve tucks under the edge of the users buttocks. Pull each leg section to support each thigh and bring the leg straps through the inside of the individuals legs. Feed the leg strap through the retaining loop on the opposite leg section. Attach the straps to the spreader bar on hoist (note: the leg straps do not cross over but attach to the spreader bar on the same side) and lift using standard hoist lifting techniques.

CUSTOMISED FEATURES: Where individual needs require specific modifications, the manufacturer welcomes individual specifications.

SAFETY: As with any sling, it should be regularly checked before use. Check sling for things like frayed edges, thinning or lose stitching, tears or other anomalies. If in doubt do not use sling.

LAUNDERING: Manufacturer recommends a domestic wash at 50 degrees C, however they can be sterilised at 100 degrees C (not sheepskin lined slings). Autoclaving at 134 degrees C is not recommended. Cold rinse hot spin or drip dry. For tumble drying: use warm setting on machine not hot. NOTE: supplier states that frequent washing will decrease the life span of the sling (may require replacing approximately every 2 years).

GUARANTEE: 12 months guarantee.

Caution
Hoist and Sling Compatibility Notification
Alert to Prescribers of hoists and slings:
A Prohibition Notice has been issued by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland directing that 'the person in control of the work activity stop the activity of use of mismatched equipment for patient handling (hoists and slings)'. A statewide safety alert has been issued by the Occupational Health and Safety Unit within Queensland
Health.
In accordance with the required mandatory actions, the Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme (MASS) is acting immediately, and as a matter of priority, to:

1) Identify clients who have, under the previously existing risk management process in place by MASS, been issued with slings of different brand to the hoist. It is noted that this equipment was specifically prescribed by an appropriately qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist who assessed this as the most appropriate option for the individual client. However, under the abovementioned
Prohibition Notice, this practice is no longer acceptable, and where the sling does not comply with the Manufacturer's specific recommendations, a replacement recommended sling must be prescribed and purchased by MASS as soon as possible.

2) The Daily Living Aids Prescriber Procedures have been amended as per the abovementioned Prohibition Notice and the Hoist Sling Compatibility Checklist has been withdrawn as this is no longer applicable. Please refer to the procedures for current requirements when prescribing this equipment.

3) Where suppliers are in the practice of providing slings that are not of the same brand as the hoist, MASS will seek written manufacturer endorsements for the applicable hoist/sling combinations. Details of manufacturer endorsed hoist/sling combinations will be placed on the MASS bulletin board as this information becomes available.
