Short Description
A three piece mesh sling designed for use with the Curator Patient Hoist attaching to the spreader bar via loop style attachments. The sling provides limited support under the shoulders and around each of the legs. The sling provides good access to clothing for hygiene purposes. Available in one size suitable for use with adults. No customisation is available.

MATERIALS: Aerotex upholstery.

ATTACHMENT: Slings attach to the spreader bar via loop attachments. The different lengths loops are colour coded to facilitate correct attachment to the spreader bar.

FEATURES: Padding under the thighs provides increased comfort and helps to prevent bunching under the thighs.

SIZE: Available in one size only.

SAFETY: As with any sling regular maintenance checks should be completed including checking for frayed edges, thinning of material, tears or lose stitching.

CLEANING: Machine wash at a maximum temperature of 60 degrees. Do not use chlorine bleaches. Do not dry clean. Do not iron. Can be tumble dried.

METHOD OF USE:
1. Roll the client onto one side, spread out the sling to the halfway point.
2. Roll the client across the sling onto the other side, then spread out the sling completely.
3. Place the loops over the hoist grip.
4. Cross the leg slings over each other, then place over the spreader bar hook.

Hoist and Sling Compatibility Notification
Alert to Prescribers of hoists and slings:
A Prohibition Notice has been issued by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland directing that 'the person in control of the work activity stop the activity of use of mismatched equipment for patient handling (hoists and slings)'. A statewide safety alert has been issued by the Occupational Health and Safety Unit within Queensland
Health.
In accordance with the required mandatory actions, the Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme (MASS) is acting immediately, and as a matter of priority, to:

1) Identify clients who have, under the previously existing risk management process in place by MASS, been issued with slings of different brand to the hoist. It is noted that this equipment was specifically prescribed by an appropriately qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist who assessed this as the most appropriate option for the individual client. However, under the abovementioned
Prohibition Notice, this practice is no longer acceptable, and where the sling does not comply with the Manufacturer's specific recommendations, a replacement recommended sling must be prescribed and purchased by MASS as soon as possible.

2) The Daily Living Aids Prescriber Procedures have been amended as per the abovementioned Prohibition Notice and the Hoist Sling Compatibility Checklist has been withdrawn as this is no longer applicable. Please refer to the procedures for current requirements when prescribing this equipment.

3) Where suppliers are in the practice of providing slings that are not of the same brand as the hoist, MASS will seek written manufacturer endorsements for the applicable hoist/sling combinations. Details of manufacturer endorsed hoist/sling combinations will be placed on the MASS bulletin board as this information becomes available.
