CTM 500 Series

Short Description
A rear wheel drive scooter suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Available in a three and four wheeled model, and also an economy four wheeled model. Features thumb operated controls, swivel and sliding seat, and a full lighting package. This scooter dismantles for transportation. A range of accessories are available.

Additional Information
The motorized scooter is to be used only by the registered operator who:
1) Has a doctors certificate stating that due to movement impairment they have a need to use the scooter for assisted travel.
2) Is capable of safely operating the wheelchair.
3) Will abide by the Queensland road rules.

More Details
FRAME: Epoxy coated reinforced steel frame, moulded plastic cowlings and textured rubber slip resistant footrest.

UPHOLSTERY: Vinyl padded upholstery.

SEAT: Standard high back seat or optional, S5 Captains Seat. The backrest can be folded against the seat for transport.
Both seats can be rotated 360 degrees via a lever under the seat. The lever is pushed towards the front of the seat to release the lock and must be pulled back to lock the seat in position.
Both seat also feature a forward/backward slide adjustment lever, also located under the seat, which allows fitting of the seat to handlbar/tiller distance for different size people.

BACKREST: The backrest can be folded against the seat for transport. The seat to back angle is fixed on the standard seat. The Captains has a height adjustable headrest and adjustable backrest recline, operated by a lever at the side of the backrest.

ARMRESTS: Lift-up armrests with closed cell foam padded upholstery and width adjustment.

WHEELS: 260mm/10" grey pneumatic tyres.

CONTROLS: Thumb operated drive controls for forward and reverse. Instrument panel includes button press horn, dial speed control and indicator to show battery level. Tiller angle is adjusted by turning a cam screw at the base of the tiller and as the tiller is pushed to new setting it locks into position automatically.

BATTERIES: Two 12 volt, 34 amp hour batteries allow range of up to 35KM when fully charged. 50 amp batteries are available to increase overall range.

CHARGER: Separate battery charger plugs into charging socket on the tiller.

MOTOR: DC24V / 500W 3400 rpm - 1 hp electric motor. Able to navigate gradients of up to 12 degrees.

BRAKES: Electromagnetic brakes engage automatically when the thumb control lever is released

FREEWHEELING: Lift lever at back of scooter body.

TRANSPORTATION or DISMANTLING: Lift off seat and fold tiller down onto platform. Batteries can also be removed. One piece platform section does not `break` for transport.

FEATURES: Headlight. Reflector at rear. Anti-tip wheels at rear. Basket. Bumper bars.

POINTS TO CONSIDER: The space allowed on public transport for carrying mobility equipment is an area of 800mm x 1300mm.

Factors to Consider
Queensland transport requires medical documentation in the form of a doctors letter stating the reason this device is required for the user.

There a three models available:

HS-575 three wheeled deluxe model with high back, headrest, delta handle bars, turn indicators, mirror, locking front basket and comfortable high-back seat. Can be fitted with long distance 55ah batteries.

HS-585 four wheeled deluxe model with high back, headrest, delta handle bars, turn indicators, mirror, locking front basket and comfortable high-back seat. Can be fitted with long distance 55ah batteries.

Warranty
Free service at 6 months. Standard warranty is 12 months. Warranty extended to parts only for 2 years, if the scooter is serviced by Mobile Independence, the authorised service provider, at 6 monthly intervals.

Licence & Insurance Requirements
A licence is not required for a rider in an exempt motor chair (electric wheelchair or scooter) which is limited to a maximum speed of 10km/h. The rider of the scooter is considered a pedestrian and road rules apply as for pedestrians.

All motorized scooters need to be registered. This also includes scooters that use the footpath, cross roads or drive on the side of the road where the footpath is unsuitable.
A scooter must be registered to be eligible for third party insurance which is optional.
