Short Description
A four wheel drive, outdoor powered wheelchair designed for use by adults. The wheelchair features a rigid aluminium frame that can be broken down for transportation. The chair is contoured and padded to provide a supportive seating system. Seat width is adjustable. Able to be customised. A range of accessories and options are available.

Additional Information
Sections 288 and 289 of the Queensland road rules state that wheelchairs with a tare weight of over 110kgs (tare is weight of wheelchairs without user seated on it), are restricted from riding on paths and nature strips. Motorized wheelchairs that use the footpath, cross roads or drive on the side of the road where the footpath is unsuitable must be registered.

The motorized wheelchair is to be used only by the registered operator who:
1) Has a doctors certificate stating that due to movement impairment they have a need to use the wheelchair for assisted travel.
2) Is capable of safely operating the wheelchair.
3) Will abide by the Queensland road rules.

Rigid aluminium frame. Chassis of wheelchair is adjusted to weight of the user. The manufacturer states that this is to achieve optimal dampening of vibration and wheelchair stability.

WHEELS:
Rear wheel: 405mm (16") diameter, solid with quick release axle.
Front wheel: 255mm (10") diameter, solid.
All tyres feature a raised tread in the centre which is designed to assist with rotation of the wheel on smooth surfaces. Raised shoulder profile provides enhanced traction and grip on rough or uneven surfaces. Rear wheels are quick release. All four wheels have independent spring suspension enabling wheelchair to travel on a variety of terrains. Optional curb climber allows wheelchair to travel up curb 70mm or 120mm in height. Rear anti-tippers provided as standard. Wheelchair can be placed in freewheeling operation by adjusting the single lever located above the front castor of the wheelchair.

CONTROLS: Alber's own electronics.
Operated by a joystick. LCD illuminated and fully programmable. Features a hazard light indicator, speed control lever, right and left indicator button and a battery charge indicator. Two different driving programs are available for indoor and outdoor use which can be changed by pressing a button. Can be mounted on the left or right armrest.

BATTERIES: The wheelchair is powered by one or two 22 amp x 24 volt lead gel cell batteries. Single battery pack facilitates a lower overall weight and may be lighter for transportation. Double battery pack enable greater range and as a reserve system. Batteries can be fully recharged within eight hours. An off board battery charger is provided.

MOTOR:
Option: Adventure A10 power base is available.

DISMANTLING: The seat can be removed from the base by pressing two quick release buttons on either side of the seat. Each wheel is removable. A jack up feature is included to assist with removing wheels from frame. Battery pack is removable. Components can be removed from the chassis for transportation without the use of tools. The manufacturer states that it can be transported in a medium sized car (when dismantled).

CUSTOMISATION: Wheelchair can be customised to individual needs, Refer to outlined options and listed accessories.

BRAKES: Electromagnetic with additional manual parking brakes.

Licence & Insurance Requirements
A license is not required for a rider in an exempt motor chair (electric wheelchair) which is limited to a maximum speed of 10km/h. The rider of the wheelchair is considered a pedestrian and road rules apply as for pedestrians.

All motorized wheelchairs need to be registered. This also includes wheelchairs that use the footpath, cross roads or drive on the side of the road where the footpath is unsuitable. Motorized wheelchairs may be registered to an individual or to an organization. These organizations may include nursing homes, shopping centers, education institutions and hire companies. A scooter must be registered to be eligible for third party insurance which is optional. There are no fees for registration or compulsory third party (CTP) insurance for motorized wheelchairs.

When registering a motorized wheelchair for the first time, the applicant must provide a doctor`s letter/certificate/statement stating that due to severe movement impairment they need the use of a motorized wheelchair for assisted travel. A doctor's certificate/letter/statement must be provided each time a different motorized wheelchair is registered.
