Samson Power Drive Wheelchair Power Pack

Short Description
Two models of add on power assist drive units that attach to the rear of most manual wheelchairs to provide the attendant with assistance over difficult terrain, such as climbing slopes, kerbs and grass. The PD6 model can also reverse the wheelchair and has automatic braking.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier details for pricing.

More Details
CONTROLS: 1. Lift the lock/release handle up until it remains in upper position.
2. Lift motor by holding the knob located on the top of the motor assembly until it clicks and then lower it to the ground.
3. Switch the speed control switch to the centre position [slow].
4. Switch the on/off switch on. The wheelchair should move forward at a slow speed. Continue to manually propel the wheelchair while the system is in operation. This will assist in increasing the operating time between battery chargers and give you control of the wheelchair in motion.
5. Steer the wheelchair as usual.
6. To turn sharp turns, switch off the motor, turn the wheelchair and then switch the motor back on again.
7. Change to the higher speed setting by switching the speed control switch to the upper position.
8. Switch off by turning off either the on/off switch or the speed control switch.
9. Lift the power drive, lower the lock/release handle and then lift the motor by the knob located at the top of the motor assembly until it clicks into the upper position.

BATTERIES: Two 12 volt rechargeable batteries.

CHARGER: Charging time = 6 - 10 hours.

FEATURES: No tools are required to attach or detach the motor.
The drive unit and battery are under the wheelchair so that it does not restrict attendant access behind the wheelchair.

METHOD OF USE: TRAVELLING ON GRASS OR AN UNEVEN SURFACE: Holding the knob on top of the motor assembly, slide the motor back about 25mm until it locks into place in the second hole on the extension arm. Operate as for even surfaces.
ASCENDING A STEEP SLOPE: Maximum angle of the slope must not be greater than 12 degrees OR the tipping angle of the wheelchair.
DESCENDING A STEEP SLOPE: A slope can be descended while travelling forward with the motor in the upper position or with the motor on the ground in the free-wheeling position.
ASCENDING A KERB: Wheelchair must be fitted with an anti-tip device. Do not try to mount a kerb if you are unable to place the castors of your wheelchair on the kerb.

MAINTENANCE: Connect the battery charger plug to the power socket on the battery pack. Plug the charger into an AC power outlet. The red indicator light should illuminate. Charge for 7 - 10 hours. Keep tyre inflated to 36 PSI.
