Lifestand Stand Up Wheelchair

Short Description
A wheelchair that moves from sitting to standing, and allows the user to be supported in a standing position. The wheelchair can be propelled and operated manually or may be fully powered. The Lifestand enables the User`s legs to be supported in full knee and hip extension. The seat width and depth is adjustable to accommodate for individuals of different sizes. The backrest can be positioned at three angles. The back wheels can be positioned in 6 positions to maximise stability and agility. Suitable for larger children and adults, and available in Junior, Adult, Large and XL sizes.

WHEELS: Standard : Pneumatic tyres and quick release spoked wheels. May be positioned on the horizontal bar to any one of six axle positions for optimum agility and stability.
Options : A choice of different tyres; Wheel cover; anti-tip wheels; Double hand-rim for one handed propulsion.

CASTORS: Standard : Solid quick release castors.

BRAKES: Standard : Low mounted push to brake lever brakes.
Options: Extension brakes.

FEATURES: The Lifestand allows the user to rise from a sitting to a supported and stable standing position by pushing forward on the lateral bars in one smooth movement, assisted by a hydraulic cylinder system which is adjusted to the user`s weight and strength.
The Lifestand wheelchair provides options of either independent self-propulsion and sit to stand movement by the user, can be attendant assisted or have one or all functions power assisted.


METHOD OF USE: The feet are placed on the footplate (s)
An adjustable knee support is secured across the legs just below the patella
A chest support is loosely secured across the chest
Gas damper springs raise the seat slowly, smoothly and silently until the user is inj the upright position. The springs are matched to user weight. The user has total control and is able to stop in any position.


TRANSPORTATION: For ease of transportation, the Wheels, Castors, Legrests and Foot-platform are removable, and the backrest folds down.

OPTIONS: A Power-assisted Unit or E-motion power system may be fitted at any time to the original Life Stand, to adapt to the user`s changing mobility needs and abilities.
Power-assisted Unit with remote control will allow power-assisted sit to stand.
E-motion is a powered unit that attaches to the rear wheels to proved power assisted self-propulsion for up to 10 km.

The Lifestand Compact is fully electric powered, including both the motion and standing features allowing you to stand, even while moving. The chair is compact and easy to manoeuvre in tight spots, as well transport is made easy with its space saving design.

APPLICATION: Opportunity to achieve short periods of time in standing position during the day, can provide the following benefits to the appropriate wheelchair user :
Helps prevent pressure area development and maintenance of skin integrity
Improved circulation to skin, tissues and muscles of lower extremities.
Helps reduce muscle spasms and contractions
Helps reduce atrophy of lower limb muscles and improves muscle tone

Can improve bowel regularity and function.
Reduce the number daily number of transfers.

CONTRAINDICATION'S : Not recommended for people with the following conditions:
Orthostatic or Cardiac Problems
Brittle Bones
Serious Orthopaedic Disorders
Fixed Hip and Knee Flexion of more than 20 degrees

The Lifestand range can be used by people with a wide range of disabilities to promote greater independence and general wellbeing in areas of social, school and work life, by allowing the user to stand up to greet and communicate with people at the same eye level; to reach shelves and cupboards or shop counters; to reach work surfaces such as kitchen benches, desks, and stove tops.


COMMENTS: It is recommended that this wheelchair is prescribed in conjunction with a physiotherapist or medical practitioner.
Before using the Life Stand on a daily basis, it is recommended that it be introduced in accordance with a physiotherapy movement program to gradually accustom the body to the standing position.



MAINTENANCE: All wheelchairs require regular maintenance. Refer to User Manual for specific details.

FRAME: Standard : Manual stand-up frame.

COLOURS: Black, Dark Blue or Green

SEAT: Standard : The seat frame is height- and angle-adjustable. A solid seat base with removable contoured foam padded cushion.
Options : Other cushions of preference may be used.

BACKREST: Standard : Slung style foam padded backrest that is adjustable in tension. Adjustable to three different angles and available in three different heights. Features two pockets for personal items.

HEADREST: Optional : Contoured headrest

ARMRESTS: Standard : Swingaway, L-shaped armrests that manually swivel in a 360 degree motion to lock into position in front of the user. In this position, they provide upper limb and chest support in standing.
Available in two heights and two lengths.
Options : Clothes guard

LEGRESTS: Standard : Fixed angle, swingaway tubular legrest hangars.
Swingaway padded Tibia support provides support to the tibia just below the knee in standing. The padded tibia support is adjustable in width and contour to allow comfortable and low pressure fit. Support pad is removable. The Tibia support bar locks together and opens manually, and adjusts as the user stands to minimise pressure on the lower leg and friction.

FOOTPLATES: Standard : Angle and height adjustable single footboard.
Options : Contoured foot platform

CONTROLS: The Lifestand Compact has a remote hand control with centralised functions, giving access to moving and standing with great ease.

The Classic Lite Manual Chair - suitable for the person who has intact use of one or both upper limbs. The person can move from a sitting to standing position by gently pulling the handles on the side of the chair.
The Classic Lite Electric Standup: Suitable for the person with limited power in their hands or upper body. A manually driven wheelchair with power assisted stand up.
The Compact Fully Electric wheelchair : Driven by the E-fix and with power assisted stand up. Can be driven in a stand up position at a reduced speed.
E-motion : Can be added to a manual standup chair to make reduce effort required for mobility.

Models are available in Junior, Adult, Large or XL models.
Accessories: H harness positioning aid, twin rim one arm drive mechanism; Tray table.
