More Details
MAINTENANCE: Hand or machine wash. If machine washing the supplier recommends that the vest is placed in a net washing bag.

FEATURES: Side release buckles prevent the need to tie/untie straps. Straps are sewn on diagonally therefore, allowing the pressure to be distributed over a larger surface area. The straps are also sewn onto the inside of the vest making them more discreet and difficult to 'pick' at.

METHOD OF USE: Straps which are sewn to the front of the vest cross over diagonally across the torso. The straps then pass through loops which are sewn onto the inside of the vest on the opposite side of the body. The straps are then used to secure the user and vest to the bed or chair frame. Side buckles prevent the need to tie/untie straps.
FOR USE IN BED:
Use with the side rails in the raised position. The vest is positioned with the cross over at the front. Pass the left side through the slit on the right side. Wind the long straps around the bed frame (not the side rails) on either side of the bed, to keep the user centered and to prevent sliding up or down. The strap is then taken to the foot of the bed and secured around the bed frame. If the straps are too long use up the surplus by wrapping it around the bed frame two or three times. Be careful to ensure that the the sliding male part of the buckle is out of the user's reach. Tighten the straps to keep the user in position. To release simply squeeze the side release buckle.

FOR USE IN CHAIR:
Position the vest as above and wrap the long straps around the chair, preferably at the pelvic position. If the chair is placed against a wall with a hand rail the straps can be secured to the rail either side of the user to prevent the user from lifting and carrying the chair off. The buckle can easily be adjusted for size after fastening.

PEOPLE USEFUL FOR: This item may be useful for individuals who are very active and therefore at risk of falling out of bed or off chairs.

COMMENTS: These vests are usually only recommended after consultation with the user's doctor and relatives.

SAFETY: When an individual is wearing a safety vest, they still require constant nursing observation and attention. To avoid the possibility of strangulation never restrain the vest near the shoulders when using this equipment for individuals in bed.
