PADP (Program of Appliances for People with Disabilities)
Provides equipment fo assist people with a disability to live at home
Eligibility:
. Person must be a recipient of a Social Security Card
. Disability must be of a permanent or long term nature
. Must not be compensible
. Children under 16 will be assessed on parent's income
. A clinical assessment is required for some items

. Mammary Prosthesis
. Nebulisers
. Orthopaedic Shoes
. Oxygen Concentrators
. Tens Machines
. Walking Aids
. Wheelchairs
. Lifting and transferring aids
RAPS:
The Department of Veteran Affairs operates a Rehabilitation Appliance Programme (RAPS) which provides equipment free of charge and home modifications to eligible veterans or war widows.
In general, DVA requires assessments for specific equipment or home modifications to be carried out by the preferred health professional.
Client should initially discuss needs with the GP who can refer the client to an occupational therapist directly or through DVA. The OT will assess the clinical needs and make recommendations (if appropriate) to DVA
