Short Description
The CSR & SP provides services to children with additional needs in the Hornsby, Hunters Hill, Ku-Ring-Gai, Lane Cove and Ryde Local Government areas. It is a Supplementary Services Program (SUPS) funded by The Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services and sponsored by Hornsby Shire Council.

The SUPS program helps to ensure the successful inclusion of children with additional needs by:
* Promoting access to child care
* Providing training to children's services staff
* Assisting in program development
* Publishing newsletters
* Assisting in the submission of Special Needs Subsidy Scheme applications
* Assisting with specific Accreditation principles
* Providing links to community organisations
Children with additional needs may include:
* Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders
* Australian South Sea Islanders
* Children with a disability
* Children from diverse cultural & linguistic backgrounds
Assistance is available to the following Services
* Long Day Care
* Occasional Care
* Family Day Care
* Outside School Hours Care
* Vacation Care
* In Home Care
Support dependant on eligibility for Child Care Benefits (CCB)

The library has items covering the areas of:
* Linguistic & cultural diversity
* Disability
* Indigenous and South Sea Islander cultures
Resources available for loan include:
* Children's books - including bi - lingual books
* Teacher's resource books
* Musical instruments, CD's and tapes
* Puzzles and games
* Dramatic play items
* Posters
* Videos
Special Needs Subsidy Scheme (SNSS)
The SNSS helps to include children with high ongoing support needs by providing:
* Additional staff to enable the inclusion of the child
* Access to training for child care workers
* Essential specialised equipment
SNSS funding may be available for the following children:
* Children with diagnosed disabilities
* Children undergoing continuing assessment for disabilities or developmental delay
* Refugee children who have been subjected to torture or trauma
