POINTS TO CONSIDER:
. Wardrobes should allow partial entry by wheelchair. Allow full front
opening, using bi-folding doors, accordion doors, sliding doors or curtains.
. There should be clear floor space of 800mm x 1300mm for forward or parallel wheelchair approach to the storage.
. Hanging rail should be not higher than 1350mm from the floor.
. Shelves may be adjustable between 230mm and 1350mm for a side approach; 380mm and 1120mm for forward reach.
. Pull-out baskets on runners are an advantage.
. A full length mirror is necessary.
. A drawer unit for storage of clothes may be built-in below the bed frame.
A divan bed with storage drawers under may be suitable if clearance under the bed for footrests of wheelchair is not required.
. Top of mattress should be not less than 480mm and not more than 500mm or same level as wheelchair seat.
