More Details
There are three main computer systems to consider for a person with special needs. They are IBM and compatibles, Apple Macintosh (MAC) and Acorn. The main considerations will include the range of software available and access alternatives. Access may include alternative keyboards, mice and the use of voice output to assist visual impairment, educational software with colourful graphics and motivating feedback, and rate enhancement software designed to
speed up typing.

Computers are becoming more similar and a variety of software and access options are available to suit most needs on all systems. When two or more systems would be appropriate, the important considerations become cost, technical support and backup and compatibility between existing systems to share software and knowledge.
