C-Bus, is a fully programmable energy management system that is designed to transform energy savings into reduced power bills.

It was designed for the automation and management of building electrical and associated services in both commercial premises and in domestic homes.

Any device in a house or factory can be switched on or off from the Cell or office phone.

The C-bus System employs a range of input devices - motion sensors, touch switches, time switches, light level sensors, temperature sensors etc., combined with data connections by wired or infra red paths to electronic controllers, to control various output devices. This enables control of single or multiple fluorescent or other lighting fittings, air conditioning plant and various items of office equipment. It also allows the adjustment of lighting levels, ventilation etc., to meet the needs of occupied areas varying according to the time of day or of the personnel on duty.

Microprocessors are built into push button light switches which send commands to the distributed load controllers to use only the lights that are needed. In its basic mode, C-Bus provides clever switching flexibility compared to a conventional switch installation. When linked to a personal computer, C-Bus can monitor all lighting arrangements within a multistorey building and stop wasteful use of electricity. If utilised with particular C-Bus products, lighting arrangements can be adjusted to the degree of natural light. Alternatively, lights can be programmed to function only when a person is in a room. Once installed, C-Bus offers potential in the future to link in security, climate control, fire alarms and irrigation control arrangements

Each unit in the system (switches, lights, motors TV's etc.) has its own microcontroller associated. In the case of switches, one, two or four switches / housing, the microcontroller is behind the switch. One micro handles one to four switch buttons. In the case of Fluoro's, a control unit is housed in the Fluoro housing itself, but in the case of incandescent lamps, a remote unit having a micro and 4 relays (for power switching) is used. There is also a dimming unit available which can be programmed to handle various lights connected to the network. They are currently developing a dimmer unit which can handle 20 Amps.

The large, flat tactile control buttons on the switch are designed to blend with the facia. It has a smooth design with eight different colour face plates.
