More Details
* The size of the system can be designed for use with single users and
single exits, to multi user situations incorporating many doors, floors and lifts.
* Options include linking the system to a computer monitoring station which provides management information reports.
* The system can also be linked to nurse or emergency call systems and paging systems.

Components:
940 Wrist tag: A small plastic tag which can be worn on the wrist or ankle.
270 Loop coupler: A simple loop of wire which is installed around doorways, entrances, elevators or corridors.
Single zone controllers:
* installed near each exit and process the signal received from the
loop antenna.
* an alert is activated if a person wearing a wrist tag goes to the
entrance.
* two types of controllers - 3371 and 3381.
* the controller sends information, via a RS232 output to an alerting
system which notifies staff that a person has wandered. The 3381
controller can be programmed so that some tags only activate the system at night.

Method Of Use
When a person wandering, wearing a wrist tag activates the system the following responses can occur:
* An alarm sounds on the control panel at a nursing station.
* The system can be connected to a digital pager which will notify the
staff on duty who are carrying a pager.
* The door can be automatically locked if a resident who is wandering tries to go through. (An override system needs to be incorporated in case of emergency evacuation).
* Detailed information can be recorded eg. which residents attempt to exit at which doors and how often.

Power:
Tags are powered by miniature lithium cell batteries with a battery of 5 - 10 years depending on usage. A special signal is sent when the battery is running low.
