System in use

Short Description
An internally mounted, electrically operated car hoist designed to lift a
person into the front seat of a vehicle (passenger side only). A bracket inside the car is permanently mounted and the boom and hoist mechanism are slotted into it for use. The hoist is powered by the car battery and operated by a remote control panel. The sideways movement into and out of the car doorway and pivoting movements are controlled manually. Can also be wall mounted for indoor use.

More Details
* Transfers a person into a car without lifting.
* Dismantles into small parts for storage during transport.
* Can be mounted on either side of the car.
* No alteration to car body required.
* Lifting mechanism can be used in other locations where brackets are
installed.
* Only suits 6 cylinder sized cars, 4WD vehicles, wagons or vans, two door 4 cylinder cars.
* Approved by Vehicle Inspection Authority in ACT.
* Can be used within the home for access to the bed or toilet with brackets and a 12 volt transformer attached to the wall (cost extra).
* Can be used for caravan access for holiday travel.

Hoist
* The lifting arm of the hoist consists of three separate tubular steel
components:
*A spreader bar, extension bar and hydraulic boom.
*The lifting arm slots onto the mounting bracket which is fixed to the
floor parallel to the firewall of the car. It is powered by a 12V motor
which is powered from the car's electrical system.
*Has a push in jack attachment for power from the car battery.
Sling
* The U-shaped linen sling has adjustable webbing straps with a metal
attachment bracket. These slot directly onto the spreader bar section.
* The sling provide back support up to head level and supports each leg.
* Available in small, medium and large.


Method Of Use
* Put together the three components and slot into the mounting bracket, plug into the power socket.
* Put the sling on the user - this can be done in the seated position because of the shaping of the sling.
* Manoeuvre the person close to the vehicle, positioning the lifting bar in front of him/her.
* Hook the sling onto the spreader bar.
* Using the control box, push the button to raise the lifter bar and manually pivot it to position the person over the seat.
* Push the button to lower the person into the seat (the sling can remain in position under the person or removed).
* Dismantle the hoist.


Installation
* Use a locally government registered car fitter.
* The lift can be mounted on either the left or right side front seat of two
or four door cars.
* It must be mounted to allow the widest possible sweep through the doorway without hitting the door frame or the dashboard.
