Short Description
The advantage of clothes lines, in general, is that sun and wind dry your
clothes; this method is cheap and environmentally friendly and does not
wear out clothes as quickly as clothes dryers. The disadvantage of clothes lines, is that they take up space either inside or outside the house and may be inaccessible.

Points to consider when buying a clothes line :
* ease of installation
* durability
* capacity for holding clothes
* adjustability
* control of tension
* accessibility for user of height of clothesline mounting
* length and conditions of warranty

Commonly available types of clothes lines :
. Adjustable height rotary clothes line.
. Fold down rotary clothes line.
. Retractable clothes lines (some retract into a steel cabinet - indoor
and outdoor models available).
. Fold down lines (need to be mounted at a height not less than the
length of the frame).
. Pegless clothes lines (clothes are inserted between spring loops in
line, which holds them in place).
. Indoor / outdoor portable clothesline, folds flat for storage, low line height (1.4m off ground) holds full washload, sheets etc, weighs 3kg

Other available features :
* Clotheslines are available which can be wall or ceiling mounted
inside; they have pvc covered hanging poles and can be extended
and retracted - through a window if need be.

Suggestions for those who use a wheelchair, or cannot reach a clothes line :
* Ask someone else to hang out the washing.
* Use a tumble dryer.
* Clothes line can be mounted at height appropriate for user.
* Clothes can be hung over a clothes horse, hung on hangers on an
ironing stand.
* Small items can be hung on a hanger, then the hangers can be hung
on the line.
