More Details
* It is not powered. The person's own movements are used to move the spoon from plate to mouth and to turn the plate.
* A mechanism within the arm keeps the spoon level as the arm is moved.
* Available with a standard, narrow, or cutaway baseboard.
* Demonstration and trials are available.

Version 1 - FOR PEOPLE WITH TREMOR OR ATAXIA :
Viscous dampers (which are shock absorbers) in the base of the arm smooth out shaky arm movements.

Version 2 - FOR PEOPLE WITH VERY UNCONTROLLED MOVEMENTS AND NO GRIP :
An internal adjustable counter balance spring balances the weight of the arm, alternatively, it can be set to lift the arm automatically to an adjustable stop.
The additional Forward Spring attachment brings the arm forward automatically to an adjustable stop.
People can thus use the Neater Eater with the springs set to bring
the spoon up and forward to their mouth automatically. They need
only be able to push the arm roughly back and down to the plate.

Version 3 - FOR PEOPLE WITH WEAK AND LIMITED MOVEMENTS :
An additional handle, adjustable in four directions, means that
the user's arm movements do not have to be close to the spoon.
For example: people who cannot lift their arms above table height
can use the Neater Eater with the aid of this handle adjusted
below the level of the table.
The cutaway baseboard allows this movement of the handle and
reduced damping of the Neater Eater arm also enables people with
weakness to use the Version 3 Neater Eater.
The Neater Eater has been used successfully by people with a wide range of neurological and other conditions including: Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson's Disease, head injuries, Huntington's Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Muscular Dystrophies, Friedrich's Ataxia.
