. Dogs which are selected for the programme are assessed as being the most appropriate for the person and the person's needs.
. Formal training begins at 18 months and may take up to 6 months with a further 3 months training in the home.
. The dogs are trained to fetch and carry a variety of objects, open and close doors, thereby reducing the possibility of injury.
