Short Description
Rubber tiles in dot and line raised profile designs to provide ground surface indicators for the orientation of people with visual impairment (by foot or cane). They have square corners and are available with or without adhesive backing.

Nitrile Rubber PVC Tile
. Indoor and outdoor use
. Mainly used on existing surfaces eg existing buildings, footpaths, platforms, walkways
. The tile is adhered to the top of the surface with a self adhesive backing (available without)
. Suitable for use on all surfaces except bitumen.
. Life expectancy approximately 10 years or more excluding vandalism
. Available in 4 standard colours: black, yellow , grey or white


Tactile indicators shall comply with the following requirements:
(A) Tactile indicator modules shall have a luminance contrast to that of the adjacent surface. The colour shall provide a luminance contrast to the surrounding surface of not less than 0.3 (30%), (measured with a lux meter).
NOTE: A person with limited vision needs this contrast to detect the module visually.
(B) Where tactile indicators warning of a hazard are required on ground or floor surfaces, modules shall be Dot Design (type B).
(C) Where direction of travel indicators are required on ground or floor surfaces, Line Design modules shall be laid in the direction of travel (Type C).
(D) Line Design modules shall be centred on the line of travel, and shall have - (1) a minimum width which is not less than one module; and (2) a minimum length which is not less than two modules.
(E) Modules shall be laid so that there is no likelihood of edges lifting and have 3.4mm between each module.
(F) The abutment of any surface shall be such that there is no step or ledge of more than 3mm.
