Short Description
Technical Aid to the Disabled has developed a system to enable skiiers
with a vision impairment to cross country ski. The skiers, carrying FM transmitters, ski a one kilometre loop course with signal beacons set
fifty metres apart. A switching system in the skiers glove activates the
beacon to produce an audible signal.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier details for pricing.

More Details
. The transmitters produce two types of tones; one which indicates terrain
and a louder tone which indicates the beacons location. After the beacon's terminal has been successfully located, the skier turns off the signal and activates the next beacon.
. The course is situated near the Nordic Shelter at Perisher. Skiers will
require guides to get to the track.
. People wishing to use the course should contact the Perisher Ranger Station to make a booking. The beacons will then be set out by rangers, subject to weather conditions and adequate snow.
. A user's manual is available to explain the system and users will also need to pick up the hand pieces (transmitters) which activate the beacons.
