Short Description
TASC is a service of Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Seating Consultants, Technical Service Officers that advises people with disabilities on technology options to help with communication, computer use, operation of electrical devices, specialised seating and wheelchair repairs. The service is to people with various disabilities throughout NSW.

More Details
A staff of assistive technology specialists is available to answer questions and advice on technology options which should then be trialled with the users support team (family, carers, therapists, teachers etc) to decide whether or not they meet the users needs. Advice may be given on eg:
. Switch operated toys
. Communication devices
. Access to computers for leisure, education and employment.
. Alternative operation of electrical applicances or devices in the home, school or workplace.
Clients include:
. People with disabilities and their families, carers and other
support team members, professionals, educators and others seeking advice on specialist equipment.
. This includes people who have cerebral palsy or other disabilities who may benefit from assistive technology.
Cost:
. There is an annual contribution of $100 to use Spastic Centre services. Travel costs are also charged. If the case is compensible then the full fee will be charged. Full fee schedule information is available on request.
The Service Offers:
. Client Appointments: This service is offered on any Centre site, or any other site nominated by the client and support team.

. Monthly newsletter TechnoTalk:
. Open Afternoons which involve a short conducted tour of the Service and demonstrations of the latest equipment and software; the aim is to provide a broad base of information to a wide range of people's needs.
. Resource Service which includes telephone enquiries and product
brochures;
. Permanent display which is located in the ATS foyer at Allambie Heights.
. Product Guides, ATS staff produce mini-manuals for all equipment;
. Equipment Loans, are available in the short term; phone the ATS
secretary for rental details.
. Training, ATS staff provide training on specific equipment for clients,
their support team members, teachers, carers and others; fees may be charged for this service;
. Teaching, services offered include workshops (large and small), seminars and formal lectures; these are available to groups of professionals, care workers, other organisations, schools, colleges and universities; fees may be charged for these services.
