Short Description
This information sheet is designed to familiarise clients with the design features of wireless door chimes, and in particular those features that need to be taken into consideration when purchasing these items. The door chime with battery operated transmitter and receiver can be used as a doorbell, a remote pager or a panic switch.

GENERAL FEATURES
. Both the chime transmitter and receiver are portable.
. Needs no electrical wiring, though the transmitter can be wall mounted if required.
. The chime transmitter can be carried by a person or alternatively placed in a specific location, depending on a persons requirements.
. The chime receiver can be carried by a carer or family member or alternatively placed in a specific location, depending on a persons requirements.
. The transmission range of the door chimes varies depending on the manufacturer.
. The receiver generally uses 2 x AA batteries.
. The transmitter generally uses 1 x 9V batteries.

USED AS A DOORBELL OR ENTRY CHIME
. The chime transmitter can be mounted as an outside doorbell or alternatively as an entry chime to a particular room in a home.
. The chime receiver can be placed in a specific location or carried by a person.
. If the chime receiver is carried by a person, they will be able to hear the chime if they are within transmission range.
.Some chimes have an optional sensor, that can alert a person when someone walks into a room.

USED AS A PAGER OR PANIC SWITCH
. The chime transmitter can be carried by a person or placed nearby, and can be activated when assistance is required.
. A person who is bedfast and requires assistance can activate the chime transmitter, and a carer who is carrying the chime receiver will hear the chime if they are within the transmission range.
