. Data Management organisers are more complex than standard calculators and include multiple functions. These are mainly hand held models with crowded keypads which feature small white print on a black background. Some function keys may be another colour.
Points to Consider When Buying a Calculator
. Size, shape and spacing of push pads; larger pads with space between keys will be easier to operate for someone with decreased hand function.
. Colour contrast between the print, push pads and background and size of print. Where the user has a visual impairment then large print with good contrast between function and background makes identification easier.
. For models with LCD display:-
- size of figures
- contrast between figures and background (backlighting)
. Printing models:-
- size of characters
- boldness of print
. Power source:-
- Solar power does not require battery change or connection to power source. However, dual power (solar and battery) will provide
greater reliability.
