More Details
Normal vehicle registration procedures apply:
. A motor cycle safety check report (pink slip)
. A current compulsory third party (CTP) insurance green slip
. Proof of identity (POI) documents
. Proof of acquisition (POA) documents
. A number plate and registration label will be issued and must be displayed on the vehicle.
It is registered as a motor cycle.
Registration Costs:
$37 and nil to pensioners
CTP $35
All drivers must obtain a SMV (Special Mobility Vehicle) Licence which costs $12 and is free to pensioners. This is issued firstly as a learners permit.
Learners - once the knowledge test is passed the driver is 'road legal' ie they are licensed to drive on the road and the SMV License is endorsed on their regular vehicle license.
Provisional - after a period of 3 months their learners license is upgraded to a Provisional SMV Licence
Full - after a further period of time the Provisional license is upgraded to a Full SMV License.
