Kinedyne Wheelchair Securement System

Short Description
A wheelchair and occupant restraints system for use in wheelchairs and buses. The wheelchair and occupant are restrained separately.

. restraint track is bolted to van floor
. one end of the attachment strap slots into the track and the other is attached to the wheelchair.
. strap assemblies are one inch wide and can be used for manual and motorised wheelchairs.
. straps are tensioned to prevent the wheelchair from moving and are easily released.

The Kinedyne kit FE501 contains 4 wheelchair restraint belts, 4 slot sections of restraint track and backing plates, a lap belt, instruction booklet and wall decal for on-site instructions. A shoulder sash belt in an optional extra and is recommended in the Australian Standards.


Licence & Insurance Requirements
In the ACT the installation of restraint systems into vehicles must be inspected by an Engineer certified by Road User Services (in NSW an RTA certified Engineer). It is advised that any proposed vehicle modifications/installations are discussed with the Technical Unit at Road User Services on 13 22 81 and the vehicle insurance company is contacted to discuss whether the alterations will affect the insurance cover.
Training must be provided by the supplier in the use of the restraint system. An instruction book must be provided as well as written instructions displayed in the vehicle into which the system has been fitted.


Standards
Some assistive technology needs to meet Australian or other standards. Standards may relate to materials, manufacturing and installation. Products that meet Australian or international standards will have written certification. To find out if a product meets Australian Standards ask the supplier to show you the certificate.
