Ford Falcon Flashcab

Short Description
Vehicles for the transport of one wheelchair bound occupant based on
the current style AU Ford Falcon station wagon (Flashcab), and Mazda Metro 121 (Flashe), Mazda 2, Premacy. Suitable for manual or powered wheelchairs.

More Details
The rear luggage compartment has been modified:
. The roof has been raised providing maximum visibility for the wheelchair occupant
. The reinforced floor is at a low level as the petrol tank has been
relocated and optional LPG is fitted. The LPG cylinder is accommodated behind the back passenger seat and neatly covered with steel and upholstery.
. A permanently fixed fold down platform ramp folds out from the rear of the vehicle. The rear vehicle door lifts up and forms a verandah which can act as protection from the weather whilst loading or unloading.
. The ramp forms a gradient of 1:4 for assisted or independent loading.
. The wheelchair and occupant are secured with a lap-sash style restraint.
. Electronic front wheelchair restraints.
Clear height on entrance into vehicle: 1410 mm
Options include: tinted windows, rear air conditioning, additional rear seat (when not carrying WC passengers, 'S' version (65mm longer), ABS brakes, V8 motor,

Ramp design:
The ramp is constructed of heavy duty steel and is counter balanced making it easy to fold and unfold one handed. Rubber locking clips keep it in position.
The folded ramp forms the rear body section of the vehicle.
The ramp and vehicle compartment floor is covered in marine carpet which will cope with water and heavy cleaning.

Ramp only conversions are possible.

. A removable luggage grill is being designed for times when luggage is transported in the compartment.
. Good visibility for the wheelchair occupant whilst maintaining seating
for four passengers and the ease and convenience and safety of driving a station wagon.
. Manufacturer arranges relevant RTA inspections, testing and compliance plate issue.


FLASHE ( Hyundai Excel )
. This vehicle features a raised roof, lowered floor, extended rear wheelbase, heavy duty rear suspension springs, reconstructed rear side and internal panels, and added windows in the wheelchair carrying area. It has a ramp which is similar to that installed in the flashcab.
. The Flashe has seating capacity for 5 passengers plus an average manual or electric wheelchair. Some scooters (3 and 4 wheeled) will also fit.
. The wheelchair and occupant are secured with Kinedyne and electronic reel lap sash style restraints. The vehicle is fitted with automatic transmission, air conditioning and power steering.

Mazda Metro 121
. rear suspension is upgraded with heavy duty springs.
. use of the standard wheelbase
. 1.3 or 1.5 litre motor.
. incorporates a rigid frame in the roof construction which creates a steel capsule in the rear.
. seating capacity for 5 passengers plus wheelchair or scooter.
. ramp is similar to the ramp in the Flashcab.
. automatic transmission, power steering, air conditioning

N.B. This modification can be done to either a brand new vehicle as a complete package or an existing vehicle if it is a compatible model.
