Short Description
A roof mounted hydraulic hoist which enables an assistant to lift and
transfer a person from a wheelchair to a car seat. It consists of a
permanently mounted steel pack rack with housing for a sliding bar
with capacity for forward / backward travel, a detachable hydraulic assembly which slides into the sliding bar and a padded sling seat.

More Details
The Auto-lifter can be fitted to almost any existing model of car or van available in Australia.
It is made from steel and aluminium and uses a top quality hydraulic jack.
Spare parts are readily available.


Method Of Use
. Position padded sling seat on wheelchair.
. Position wheelchair alongside car underneath slide bar.
. Slot hydraulic assembly into hollow cylinder slide bar and pull bar out.
. Attach buckles on sling seat to hook on lifting arm.
. Tighten valve on hydraulic jack and pump handle to lift person off
wheelchair to same height as car seat.
. Slide person forward to align with car seat then push sliding bar in so that lifting arm is inside car.
. Slowly release valve to lower person onto seat.
. Detach buckles from hook (sling remains under person).
. Remove jack section and secure sliding arm with bar provided.
AVAILABILITY: When ordering specify make and model of car and whether the hoist is for the passenger or driver's side of the car.

Factors To Consider
. Enables one person to transfer a person from wheelchair to car seat without heavy lifting.
. Suitable for use on cars and vans with or without a roof gutter and can be fitted by any mechanic as there are no electrical components.
. Attachment of buckles to one central hook may be uncomfortable for people with wide hips (may be overcome by using a small spreader bar).
. Tall people may have trouble with head clearance.
. It can be easily transferred to another vehicle of similar width.
. Any competent mechanic can fit a lifter in less than half an hour - it is no more difficult thah a standard pack rack.
