Short Description
The Action Xact Cushion is a contoured positioning and pressure equalization cushion. It consists of a contoured multi-layered foam base and an Akton polymer gel grid surface pad. The overlay moulds to the contours of the cushion and provides maximum pressure protection. The cushion is encased in a stretch knit fabric cover that incorporates a non-skid bottom. The Xact Cushion is designed to provide pressure reducton for people at medium to high risk of developing pressure sores. The cushion is avilable with a drop seat insert. This comes in a variety of sizes and with Basic Mounting Hardware.

CUSHION LAYERS
Contoured multi-layered foam base:
- Four different densities of foam, each serving a specific purpose.
- The softest is used as a cushioning support for the Akton grid.
- The pommel is a medium density foam chosen to withstand day to day use without loss of positioning effectiveness.
- A firm foam is used as the foundation of the cushion.
- An "Ischial Aeration System" consists of a low resilient foam that has been built into the pad beneath the ischials and coccyx area where maximum pressure is most common. Air pockets beneath the foam insert have an aerating effect when compressed, providing an additional release of pressure in that specific area.
- The entire base has been sealed for incontinence and easy wipe-down maintenance.
Akton polymer cube pad
. This is a functional flexible, lightweight polymer gel cushion overlay.
. The cubed design is flexible enough to move with the body while
shifting or reposition.
. The polymer gel material dissipates heat build- up, distributes weight
uniformly and as stated by the manufacturer, "doesn't bottom out". . . . Simple hook and loop (velcro) attachment makes it easy to insert
special positioning wedges.
. Grid channels provide ventilation and drainage.
. Grid construction offers breathability, flexibility and contour.
. Can also be purchased separately for use on other cushions - called the Action Shear Smart Pad. A separate cover to fit the grid pad is also available.
MODELS:
Xact Classic - multi-layered foam base with integrated pommel, topped with Akton polymer cube pad.
Xact Low Profile - A shallower cushion (approx 2 inches at the front and decreasing to about 11/4 inches at the back) with same Akton polymer cube pad on top. All the foam used in this cushion is low resilience and is coated with water proof polyurethane. This cushion has lower pommel and adductor rails than the Classic, with a small coccyx well and a cantilevered front to accommodate foot propellors. The rear of the cushion has cut outs on each side for the canes.
Sizing is indicated by the prefix XLP followed by the size of the cushion in inches.
Twister - This cushion also combines gel and foam but has a recessed section at the rear of the cushion, which takes the gel pad. The user thus sits on foam at the front of the cushion and gel at the rear. The profile of the gel cubes is higher under the ischial tuberosities and at the back of the central section of the cushion.

Xact Integrated - the Xact Classic is joined to a Compex resin drop base to reduce the overall height of the cushion from seat to floor. The wheelchair upholstery is removed, and the cushion clips to the wheelchair frame using hooks attached to the base of the cushion.
A range of drop hooks from 0 to 2 inches are available.
Xact Individual - the shape of the foam pad can be modified to suit the needs of the individual with complex seating needs e.g. contracture and obliquity build-ups, increased pelvic blocks, leg discrepancy modifications.
COVER:
. Body Smart cover is standard - zippered stretch black cover has a breathable mesh top surface that wicks away moisture build up.
. It also has a slip resistant base and a handle.
. The cover moves with the user during shifting and active use without
increasing resistance.
. Cover has non-skid bottom to keep it in place.
. Other options are Incontinent or Super Lo Shear covers.
Other Information
Available for a trial of one week if required.
. Manufacturer can do custom cut outs and contours for an additional cost.
. Wedges can be added beneath the grid surface, by a seating
therapist.
Cleaning
The entire base is sealed to guard against incontinence and to ensure east wipe down cleaning. Covers are washable.
