Kickstart

Short Description
A portable modified walking stick which provides the user with a visual cue to help initiate the first step. This cue is a spring loaded extension arm which extends in front of the user when downward pressure is exerted on the handle.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier details for pricing.

More Details
Kickstarts are available with different spring tensions to cater for light to heavy weight requirements.

TO USE
. Place the stick on the ground a short distance in front and to the side of the foot.
. Press down on the stick to extend the yellow pointer all the way to the ground. This is the visual cue.
. Release the pressure on the stick and the pointer will automatically retract.
. Carry the stick until another kickstart is required.
. To adapt to left or right handed use - depress the height buttons and turn the handle around so the yellow pointer is towards the centre as you hold the stick.

Caution
The Kickstart is not intended to be used as a walking stick. However it may be used for support if the user feels unsteady. For this reason it is a good idea to have a Kickstart that is as firm as the user can handle to operate the mechanism.

Additional Comment
This is of particular benefit to people who have Parkinsons Disease and have difficulty initiating walking.
