Short Description
A webbing belt for use on wheelchairs, dining chairs and some armchairs to prevent a person from sliding down. Adjustable in length. Closes with a Fastex buckle. The belt has a loop at either end and is attached to the chair by lassoeing through the loop and around the chair frame near the pelvic area.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier details for pricing.

More Details
. The belt normally remains on the chair when the chair is vacated. When a person is sitting, the buckle should be on the side of the person.
. The buckles are not authorised for use in motor vehicles.
. A similar product is the Pelican Chair belt.
. The belt can be a loose and comfortable fit on most people. If they have a habit of slipping down in the chair, this may be stopped by making the belt tighter.

The use of restraint affects a persons rights and dignity, and may remove or restrict their ability to move freely. Restraints can be an item of equipment or a management practice and should not be used as a substitute for supervision. In some cases, a restraint may increase a person's risk of physical harm.

Policies or practices of restraint in a residential care service should reflect any relevant legislation, codes of practice and professional standards. Legal advice on some issues may be appropriate.

Please ask the ILC staff or other care staff relevant to your situation for more information. They can advise on the use of least restrictive forms of restraint and/or alternatives to restraints.
