Note: in the experience of this hospital, collars can force people into a position of upper cervical hyperextension, which can lead to additional problems for people with MND, such as difficulties swallowing which can result in secretion management problems (excessive drooling during travel), sensations of choking, causing increased anxiety and/or panic.
