Short Description
A large range of long handled reaching aids is available. The reachers vary in trigger style, jaw style, length and weight. Folding models are available. Many of the reachers are available through pharmacies.

More Details
TRIGGERS - some of the triggers are a distance from the handle, forcing the user to spread their hand right out to reach and pull the trigger. Others have the trigger closer to the handle, and these may be more suitable for people with hand problems.

JAWS - some jaws are metal, others are plastic; some reachers have two moving jaws which close in from both sides onto the object, others have one fixed part and one moving jaw. Some jaws can be rotated to
point in the required direction. Some open wider than others.

FOREARM SUPPORT - several reachers offer the option of support under the forearm. This may be useful for people with wrist problems as it helps to support the weight of the item being lifted.

LENGTH - the reachers vary in length. The long ones are useful for picking up items from the floor when standing, the short ones may be more suitable for use from a seated position.

FOLDING - folding models may be useful to carry in a bag or on a wheelchair.

MAGNET - many of the reachers have a magnet at the end.

LEVER LOCK - some reachers have a trigger lock. The lock is operated by tunring a single lever which locks the jaw into a set position, allowing both hands free to support weighty items.
