Short Description
A linen home-delivery service to support frail aged and younger people with disabilities, who are incontinent, to remain in their own homes.
The service is funded under the Home and Community Care (HACC) program and clients are expected to contribute by means of a weekly fee. This may vary according to the number of deliveries and the amount of linen required but in most cases will not exceed $10.00.
More Details
Deliveries and collections are made once or twice a week, depending on need, by a linen field worker in an unmarked courier van.
Bags of soiled linen and the next order must be ready for collection prior to 10am on the delivery day. Clean linen will not be left unless special arrangements have been made.
At the commencement of service clients are assessed on their linen requirements and a service plan is developed.
(Note: No deliveries are made on Wednesdays).
The folowing items can be provided:
- Sheets - queen and single size
- Pillowcases
- Bath Towels
- Absorbent Bed Pads
- Absorbent Chair Pads
* subject to cost and availablility.
Payment
Payment is by monthly account which can be paid as a whole or in weekly instalments to the Linen Field Workers.
Please contact the Central Office on Ph. 6287 4311 should this be inconvenient or cause unnecessary financial hardship.
Changes and cancellations
If for any reason you need to cancel your service, please advise the Central Office as soon as possible.
Who is eligible?
The service is available to ACT residents who are INCONTINENT and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for assistance under the Home and Community Care (HACC) program.
How to get the Linen Service
You can be referred by other HACC service providers, health and related welfare agencies, relatives, friends or you can refer yourself.
Should the need for linen be urgent, carers may collect a start up pack from the Central Office at Holder ACT at any time during business hours.

All details and any correspondence between clients and the service is treated in the strictest confidence.
Other Services
The Red Cross Linen Service also holds a stock of Absorbent Bed Pads (currently ie Confident Care MIP Chamois Bedpad without tuck in flaps) for sale at $32.00 each. (Prices correct as at 30/10/2000, however they are subject to change).
