Picture

Short Description
An electrically operated, alternating air mattress replacement. It consists of a single layer of separate cells. The three cells in the head section remain static while the rest alternate in pressure. The cover has two way stretch, is fluid resistant, and vapour permeable. The pump uses a manually operated dial to control the air pressure within the cells. Single bed size only.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier details for pricing.

More Details
STRUCTURE
. One layer of 21 cells on a 75mm thick foam base. Each cell is separate from the others and runs the entire width of the mattress. The cells are made from nylon with TPU coating.
. Each cell is removable, and attaches to the cover at both sides with two press studs.
. The two hoses from the pump have a push button release. Each tube controls the inflation of every second cell, with a one in two cell cycle in the alternating air.

COVER
. Two way stretch with more stretch in width than in length.
. Seams are sewn, with water resistant adhesive over these.
. A zip surrounding the mattress sits underneath a waterfall flap.
. Instructions are printed on the cover including name of product, CPR instructions, washing instructions, and which end the feet should be at.

PUMP AND CONTROLS
. Air output is 4.5 litres per minute.
. Cycle time 8 - 10 minutes
. The air hoses from the pump are rubber and must not be kinked or squashed during use.
. The pressure of the cells is set by manually adjusting a dial and checking for bottoming out in each changed position.
. Static switch causes all cells to be inflated so attendants can assist the occupant on a firm base. This button can be disengaged where requested.
. A light activates when there is low pressure.
. On and off button.
. Folding hooks and rubber stoppers on the rear help storage.
. Label on the back of the pump provides the serial number, supplier details, and safety instructions. Operating instructions are printed on the side of the pump.

ATTACHMENT
. Three webbing securing straps with plastic buckles facilitate attachment to the bed base, with a slip resistant material on the base.

Safety Features
CPR release is a pull strap positioned near the chest area.
An optional audible alarm is available for when there is low air pressure in the mattress replacement.

Additional Comment
. The three air cells at the head section remain static at a constant pressure to minimize the sensation of movement for the user.
. The manually operated pressure control dial requires an attendant to set the degree of inflation correctly (for instance, semi recumbent or side lying).
. The cell movement and noise from the pump can be disturbing for some occupants.
. The cells are not connected and may move apart from one another.
. The air cells are removable, and the supplier suggests that by doing this, the length of the mattress can be reduced for use on shorter beds.
