Short Description
The Gravity Conveyor is able to move materials from one location to another. The conveyor consists of three components being the frame, supporting stands and rollers available in a range of configurations. The conveyor is able to work by one stand being lower than the other and gravity moving the load, or by keeping the frame level and a person pushing the load along.
More Details
Frame
The frame is made from steel and consists of two parallel rails running lengthwise with frame spacers connecting the two rails together.
Three standard widths are available being 242mm, 394mm and 546mm.
Two standard lengths are available being 1500mm and 3000mm.
90 degree curved sections are available.
The ends of the frames have butting plates and are joined together with nuts and bolts.
By request customised lengths and widths can be obtained, as well as personnel gates, merges and junctions, end fixing by hook and bar and the frame can be made from galvanised or stainless steel.
Rollers
The rollers can be supplied in stainless steel with a load capacity of 140kg per roller, or in plastic with a load capacity of 25kg per roller.
Spring loaded axles on each roller slot into holes in the frame to keep the rollers in place.
To maintain the stability of the load, there should always be a minimum of three rollers beneath the items being moved.
Curved frames use twin rollers to enable cornering.
For 1500mm frame approximately 19 rollers are required. For 3000mm frame approximately 36 rollers are required.
On request extra heavy duty rollers (200kg load capacity), special roller diameters, precision bearings and galvanised roller tubes are available. Stainless steel bearings in plastic rollers and zinc plated or stainless steel shafts can also be obtained.
Stands
The conveyor frame is set at the required height by placing it on stands which are adjustable between 600mm and 1000mm to the top of the roller.
Two types of stands are available. The RHS stands are bolted to the frame through a crescent plate which allows for angular alignment. Due the their rigid construction they are more suitable for more permanent conveyors. The other option are the Pipe Stands, which are more portable therefore more suitable for temporary conveyors.
Straight frames require only one stand per join. However, if the frames are to be moved, it is more convenient to have a stand at each end. Curved frames require a stand at each end to enhance stability.
Special widths are available on request.
Standard frames have mounting plates on the leg ends that can be bolted to the floor. However if frames are to be moved, they can be fitted with castors.
