Bodypoint Trimline Shoulder Harness

ILC Reference NO 43:69:007
Item sourced from ILC VIC database

Rear Pull option

Factors to Consider
These products should only be used with a lap belt to prevent the occupants hips from sliding forward and causing their shoulders to be lower.
The top of the shoulder harness should be level with the shoulders to give a suitable angle of pull. This may require a different backrest.
If used and positioned correctly, this product can help prevent a wheelchair occupant from leaning forward while seated.
A solid backed backrest should be used with this product to give a firm support. Slung upholstery may have too much give and cause the back to be unsupported.
The narrow pads and curve can be more comfortable for women with bigger bust sizes than other similar shoulder supports.
It may be helpful to refer to Australian Standards AS/NZS 4370: 1996 Restraint of children with disabilities in motor vehicles to assist in deciding the safest way to transport a child with a disability.
This item is designed to provide additional support for the user while sitting in a vehicle. It is required to be used in conjunction with the existing vehicle seatbelt. If this item impedes the vehicle seatbelt in any way, a letter from a doctor may be required to outline the need for this modification to the car seat restraint. For more information, contact Vic Roads on 13 11 71.
Padding can reduce pressure issues for some wheelchair occupants.

Short Description
Two separate black, padded, adjustable webbing straps, designed to sit over the shoulders and support the occupant of a wheelchair from the front of their body. The pads are narrow and slightly curved. They anchor to the frame of a wheelchair or solid backed backrest using clamps, brackets or are screws. Buckles are used for fitting and removing the occupant. Tightening and loosening can be done from different directions of pull. A range of childrens and adults sizes, and accessories are available.
