Short Description
The Contour Visco Cushion is a high profile contoured cushion made from temperature sensitive, high density, low memory, visco-elastic foam and is ergonomically designed to provide postural support for the user. It is a deep cusion suitable for users with a high risk of developing pressure ulcers and is available in four grades of firmness with varying load capacities. A range of cover options is available, all are launderable, waterproof, vapour permeable and two-way stretch with and anit-slip base and a handle. A sag compensator base is available and the cushion comes in a range of sizes.

Design
The geometrically formed sections on the surface create contouring to position thighs and buttocks comfortably. The raised sides and back help to contain the body, providing postural support.
Provides greater support to those users with longer leg length.
The moulded design cradles the body, to dissipate weight away from specific pressure points and reducing the risk of pressure sores developing.
Labels clearly indicate front and back of cushion.
Covers
A Platilon (impermeable membrane) liner is optional on Contour Visco cushions
There is a choice of covers available: standard Kingfisher Green polyurethane water resistant wipe down, Black Smooth, Black Water Resistant Wipe Down and Black Towelling.
All covers are water resistant, vapour permeable (breathable), have two-way stretch, a handle for carrying and a slip resistant base.
Both the covers and the foam are impregnated with an anti-bacterial agent and are flame retardant.
Cover maintenance
The wipe down cover can be cleaned using a solution of neutral detergent and hot water, applied with a single use wipe cloth or can be laundered at 60° C. the towelling cover can be laundered at 60° C.
Cleaning agents that contain phenols or alcohol should not be used.
Do not tumble dry.
For heavily soiled covers, launder at 71° C with a dilute detergent solution.
The cover should be thoroughly drip dried before being refitted to the cushion.
Factors to Consider
It is important that the user reposition themselves, or be repositioned, on a regular basis. This relieves pressure and helps prevent tissue compression and potential pressure ulcer formation.
'All cushions must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the users weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct choice and depth of foam), a different product may need to be considered.'
Do not attempt to move the cushion by its handle while the user is seated on it.
