Short Description
These personal alarm systems provide a 24 hour monitored response when activated by the user, which ensures contact is made with someone (such as neighbours, relatives or friends) in an emergency.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier information for pricing details.

Method Of Use
In an emergency a button is pressed on the TRANSMITTER which may be worn as a pendant or on a wristband.

This activates the RECEIVER/DIALLING UNIT which connects to the household telephone socket, and sends a message via the telephone line to the monitored base station.

The staff at the base station notify the people listed as contacts.

Factors To Consider
Questions to ask:

Is RENTAL OR PURCHASE the best option?

What are the COSTS of installation/establishment fees, weekly / monthly monitoring fees, battery replacement, telephone charges for system checks?

Which is the most SUITABLE TRANSMITTER with regard to weight, pendant or wristband style, method of activation, water- resistance?

Will TRANSMITTER OPERATION cover the distance needed in the chosen environment for example in garden areas?

Is a TWO WAY TALK BACK FACILITY offered which allows the monitoring base staff to speak with the user, and will it work throughout the house where required?

If system is accidentally activated does it have a CANCEL FACILITY ?

Is a REPUTABLE MONITORING COMPANY operating the base station, with 24 hour staffing and appropriate security measures in place to ensure confidentiality?

Does the system have the ability to DOMINATE THE TELEPHONE LINE over other calls in case of emergency?

What MAINTENANCE SERVICE is offered for battery replacement, testing procedures, back-up in case of power failure?

Is CUSTOMISATION available for features which may need be adjusted to meet individual needs?

Are there any OTHER OPTIONS such as being able to link in to an existing security system?

Factors to Consider

The user must UNDERSTAND the system and be confident of knowing how to use it in an emergency.

The user must be PHYSICALLY ABLE to activate the transmitter.

The user must REMEMBER to wear the pendant / transmitter at all times - if it is removed for bathing/showering, it must be placed within reach (even if a fall occurs).

The user must nominate CONTACT PEOPLE - relatives, friends or neighbours who will be available to be called upon in the event of an emergency.

These contact people must have the ABILITY TO ENTER THE HOUSE - a key must be made available, and the user must not bolt or chain doors.

The system must OPERATE THROUGHOUT THE AREA REQUIRED and should be tested for both signal transmission and two way talk back clarity within the home prior to purchase or rental.
