Trec Lok Wheelchair Restraint System

Short Description
A wheelchair and occupant restraint system. A mechanical lock down system is used to restrain the wheelchair to the vehicle. Two models are available. Suitable for use with manual and powered wheelchairs.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier information for pricing details.

Features
Two models are available. Both models require a steel bracket to be welded to the frame of the wheelchair : this is attached to both sides of the wheelchair below the armrests. The wheelchair can still be folded with the brackets attached.

Method Of Use
'A' Frame WHEELCHAIR AND OCCUPANT Restraint System
1. Wheel the wheelchair into place.
2. To secure the wheelchair in place, a lever on the restraint unit, to the rear of the wheelchair is raised and this raises the two locking pins.
3. When the lever is lowered, the pins lock down into holes in the wheelchair brackets, locking the wheelchair in place.
4. The lap sash belt is positioned and secured.

Models
'A' Frame WHEELCHAIR AND OCCUPANT Restraint System - Incorporates a padded high back structure which is fixed to the steel keyhole tracking on the vehicle floor. The wheelchair is secured in place using a manual (lever operated) or optional automatic release
system. The restraint system allows the occupant to travel either forward or rearward facing. This system incorporates a lap sash belt. Suitable for installation into buses or small passenger vans.

UNDER SEAT WHEELCHAIR RESTRAINT SYSTEM - This system fits under an existing hinged bus seat (specifically designed for public transport). When the wheelchair is not secured in the restraint the bus seat can be used as a passenger seat. Manual attachment and release. This system can be easily removed when not in use.

Caution
The webbing should be checked regularly for signs of wear or fraying. Nicks greater than 1mm necessitate replacement. The product must be replaced immediately after it has been worn during a collision. No restraint system is considered safe to use with the occupant of a
scooter travelling while sitting in the scooter. The occupant must transfer to a normal vehicle seat for the journey.

Additional Comment
When purchasing a vehicle wheelchair restraint, consider also other vehicles in which the person may travel in their wheelchair (eg taxis, school bus etc.). This may influence the choice of restraint which is chosen for the family / individual's vehicle, as not all restraint fittings or modifications that are required on a wheelchair are compatible with all restraint systems.
