Factors to Consider
Larger rear wheels can accommodate grass and gravel terrain.
This item should be trialled in the user's own environment to ensure maximum safety and independence. Environmental considerations include eg: kerbs, footpaths, tram and railway crossings, street crossings, etc.


Short Description
The Alber Adventure Power Wheelchair features a modular design and is intended to cover longer distances and various terrain, as well as being suitable for indoor use. The seating unit consists of an aluminium frame with the choice of a standard seat or the function seat which vary in postural support and adjustability. This wheelchair features spring suspension on all wheels and a joystick control. It is able to be dismantled for storage and transport and a range of accessories are available.

Frame
The chassis of the wheelchair is adjusted to the weight of the user. The manufacturer states that this is to achieve optimum damping of vibration and wheelchair stability.
Anti tip supports are included.
Single lever release enables the wheelchair to be placed in freewheel operation.

Wheels
Each of the four wheels feature independent spring suspension (52mm of spring travel). The manufacturer reports that this enables the wheelchair to climb over kerbs up to 70mm high.
A raised tread is featured in the centre of each tyre, assisting rotation of the wheel on smooth surfaces. The raised shoulder profile on each wheel is designed to enhance grip on soft surfaces.

Standard Seating
The standard seat is available with seat widths from 440 to 520mm.
The upholstery is imitation leather over 40mm deep plastic foam.
The armrests are adjustable in height and width, and removable via a screw fastener that is released.
The seat is a fixed depth of 450mm.
The legrests are adjustable in height and removable.
The footplates can flip upwards.
The backrest is a fixed height of 550mm. It is removable and angle adjustable to six positions.

The Function Seat
This seating is optional.
The backrest and seat is more contoured providing additional lateral support in comparison to the standard seat.
This seating is available in two seat width ranges. Seat width can be from 380mm to 440mm, or 440mm to 520mm.
The armrests are adjustable in height and width. They can be folded away and are removable via a quick release device.
The seat is adjustable in depth.
The footrest hangers are adjustable in height and angle. They are removable.
The footplates can be flipped upwards. They are adjustable in angle and depth.
The seat frame can be removed from the base via a quick release device.
The backrest can fold and is removable. It is also adjustable in height and angle.

Controls
The wheelchair controller is programmable and is operated via a joystick.
A lead crystal display is featured and displays symbols to indicate wheelchair status and functions.
Two driving programs are available. By pressing a button drive operation mode can change from an indoor to an outdoor setting.

Batteries
Either one or two batteries may be used with this wheelchair.
One battery pack facilitates a lower overall weight.
Two battery packs enable greater range.
The batteries consist of lead gel cells which do not require maintenance (but regular charging). The manufacturer also reports that they will not leak.
Both fully discharged batteries can be recharged within eight hours.

Dismantling
The seat can be removed from the base.
Each wheel is removable. A jack up feature is included to assist when removing wheels from the frame.
The battery packs are removable.
This wheelchair is able to be dismantled without tools.
