Factors to Consider
The ability to change font sizes from small to extra-large is an advantage for those with a vision impairment.
StickyKeys function is an advantage for users who have difficulty pressing two or more keys simultaneously.
The ability to turn off the repeat key function is an advantage for people who have difficulty releasing a key following a key press.
The Neo allows information to be sent to computer or printer via infrared. This may assist people who would have physical difficulties connecting cables.
Short Description
Neo by Alphasmart is an A4 sized notetaker with a laptop sized keyboard and a built in screen. Text can be displayed over 2,3,4,5 or 6 lines, as there are 5 different font sizes. The Neo can be connected directly to a computer or printer via cables. Alternatively text can be beamed via infrared directly to the computer or compatible printer.

Compatibility/System requirements
Neo is compatible with USB-enabled Macintosh (MacOS 9.0 and higher) and Windows computers (Windows 98SE and higher) as well as many USB and IrDA-enabled printers.
Adjustment
The Neo has a number of accessibility options that allow for adjustment of keyboard sensitivity.
Sticky Keys. This allows keys, such as the Shift, Control or Alt keys, that would normally have to be pressed together, to be pressed in sequence. These keys are latched down until the next key is pressed.
Auto Repeat. This feature enables the repeat function to be turned off, preventing a string of repeated letters appearing on the screen when a key is held down for too long.
Slow Keys. This reduces the sensitivity of the keyboard, preventing keys being activated accidentally if lightly or quickly touched. A delay of up to 3 seconds can be set. Each key will then need to be held down for 3 seconds before it is activated.
It is possible to change keyboard layout to a left one handed, right one handed or DVORAK keyboard layout.

Password Protection allows multiple users to protect their files from each other and prevent issues of privacy invasion or accidental loss.
Software
AlphaBeam software allows the transfer of data from the Neo to a computer. This software is provided with the Neo.
The AlphaWord Plus Smart Applet (word processor) and Calculator SmartApplets are provided as standard with the Neo.
SmartApplets are mini-software applications which can be purchased on CD or disks.
Applications available include applications for keyboarding, templates, e-mail, etc.
