Factors to Consider
The brightly coloured activating surface provides clearly visible target for activation when used with the hand or arm.
The Specs switch can be activated using fingers, arm, head or other body movements. The switch can be positioned out of the user's line of vision, as the loud click feedback will alert the user that the switch has been activated.
The smooth edges on the activating surface reduces the risk of skin damage on activation.
The Specs switch should be secured to a stable surface with eg. Velcro to aid switch stability during activation.
The range of bases allows for flexibility in mounting.
The strap base allows the switch to be secured in a range of positions eg around wheelchair headrest or to a person's arm. The strap needs to be shortened when used in the palm to reduce the bulk of the unit.
The low profile allows access to the upper activating surface within a smaller range of movement.
Short Description
The Specs switch is a small round mechanical switch consisting of hard plastic with a colourful upper activating surface and three interchangeable bases (flange base, flush base and strap mounted). There is a choice of 7 colours. The Specs switch is activated by light pressure anywhere on the surface area, including the sides. Tactile and auditory click feedback are provided on activation.

Mounting / Bases
Flush base
This base takes up the minimum of space and requires mounting with hook and loop or double-sided adhesive pads.
Flange base
This base is 50mm in width and 13mm in height. It has 3 screw holes for attachment or mounting.
Strap base
This base has an elasticized Velcro strap (690mm long) attached to a plastic frame.
A small Phillips head screw-driver is provided for fitting bases.
Suitable for mounting around objects such as head rests

Accessories
UltraStik Adhesive is a tough, sticky, reusable adhesive available to secure the switch to a flat surface.
