Factors to Consider
Because of their potential to exacerbate deformity, postural support products need regular monitoring to ensure that their positioning and use remains appropriate to the users needs and body shape.
Installing a back support on a wheelchair may affect the centre of gravity of the wheelchair and may cause the wheelchair to tip backwards potentially resulting in injury. Always assess for the potential need for anti-tippers or amputee axle adapter brackets to be added to the wheelchair to help increase stability.
Short Description
The Jay Focus Point Back is a three piece deep contoured backrest that has a rib reinforced contoured aluminium shell and two multi-adjustable lateral wings. The foam is contoured and there is a pelvic wedge for posterior pelvic support. The three piece cover is washable. Suitable for users with moderate to high postural needs. Available in four sizes in standard or tall back configuration.

Jay clamp style hardware hinged clamp system.
Cover
Removable three piece washable cover.
Synthetic material with three way stretch.
Foam padding is attached to the cover not to the back.
Back up covers are available.
Adjustment
Back is adjustable for depth (46mm or 1.8"), angle (20° forward, 45° backward), height (100mm or 4"), and width (25mm or 1").
Lateral supports are fully adjustable for height (100mm or 4" in 25mm or 1" increments), width (25mm or 1"), and horizontal angle (up to 127°). Horizontal angle may be limited by wheelchair configuration.
Features
Universal headrest mounting plate - can accommodate standard flip-back, standard slide-in, Ottobock slide-in, Whitmyer flip back and Whitmyer slide-in headrest hardware.
Pelvic wedge - can be placed in multiple positions for posterior pelvic support.
Scapular cut outs minimise interference with upper extremity range of motion.
The adjustability of the back allows the user to be snugly positioned and supported laterally and posteriorly.
Installation
The back is attached to the wheelchair via the Jay clamp style hardware hinged clamp system.
Able to be used with back cane tube sizes: 7/8" - using a thick insert; 1" - using a thin insert; 11/8" - using no insert.

Cleaning Requirements
To clean the back cover
Remove the 3-part cover from the back and remove foam.
Machine wash in cold water and allow cover to fully air dry.
Machine drying is not recommended.
Do not bleach.
To clean the foam inserts
Wipe with a damp cloth.
Allow to dry before reinstalling the cover.
To clean the back frame and laterals
Wipe clean with soap and water.
Dry thoroughly before replacing contoured foam and cover.
Do not use harsh abrasives or cleaners on any part of the frame.
Warranty
24 month limited warranty.
Jay cushion/back covers are guaranteed for 6 months from date of delivery to the customer.
Maintenance
Refer to the supplier and manufacturer manual for maintenance instructions and safety warnings.
