Short Description
The Jay Modular Back is designed to replace the existing slung backrest upholstery on a wheelchair. It consists of a polymer coated aluminium outer shell with the choice of either a standard insert or a customised contoured insert. This backrest also includes the Jay Back Box which consists of 16 accessories which can be used with the backrest.

Jay Modular Back Shell
This secures to the backrest posts of a wheelchair by quick release hardware, enabling the backrest to be removed and the wheelchair folded.
The backrest is depth and height adjustable. It is able to recline from vertical to 49 degrees backward.
Standard Insert
This consists of a contoured foam insert with a centrally placed spinal fluid pad for skin protection over bony prominences.
It includes an air exchange cover which enhances air circulation.
Custom Contoured Insert
This consists of a 12mm deep foam (shim) pad which secures to the backrest shell. Attached to the front of the shim are removable blocks of foam which allows the shape of the backrest to be customised to the needs of the user.
A fluid filled pad covers the front of this insert to assist in pressure care management.
An air exchange cover is included which enhances air circulation.
Additional wedges are available.
Jay Back Box
This includes a range of postural accessories to customise the backrest for individual needs.
Supports include wedges, lateral supports and lateral fluid pads.
