Factors to Consider
It is possible for the user to use the same backrest on various wheelchairs.
The interface can allow the backrest to be fit to angled backrest posts.
Segments can be used to support the occupants back in different angles and positions including recline and rotation.
Alternative postural supports can be added including lateral supports and hip guides, if the adjustable contour does not provide sufficient support.
This system allows adjustment over time if the users postural needs change.
This system can be fit to most wheelchair backrest frames including tilt in space and powered wheelchairs.
Extra padding can be added to this system if more pressure care is needed in specific areas.
Locking devices can be fit to strengthen the backrest positioning and help reduce tampering.
Brackets are available to fit other brand headrests if required.
Short Description
A Welsh made removable wheelchair backrest made from aluminium, foam and webbing. It has adjustable contour. It can be attached to the uprights of most wheelchairs using quick release clamps. Its brackets can allow adjustment in seat width, seat depth, backrest height, backrest rotation and backrest angle. Sizes available may be suitable for adults and children. A range of options and accessories are available including separate segments of backrest to accommodate different postures.

Models
Vtrak Axxis segmented range consists of a number of segments on the backrest which can be positioned independently to accommodate an occupants posture and for comfort. There are twelve different segment sizes available including a variation of five heights and four widths.
Vtrak Axxis in a box is a single backrest shell with five adjustable portions. This can provide adjustable lateral support at the pelvic and thoracic levels. The lumbar support can be adjusted. This can be used with other segments. Available in small, medium, large and extra large.
Materials
It is foam padded on an ABS backrest shell and webbing straps allowing adjustment.
The bracket hardware is made from aluminium.
Cover
Standard cover is brush nylon lined with 4mm black foam.
The cover is removable for washing using a zip around the sides.
Adjustment
The bracket hardware allows for adjustable seat depth, seat width, backrest height, backrest rotation and backrest angle of recline. Tools are required to position the backrest.
If more than one segment is used, each segment can be individually positioned as above.
By tightening and loosening the webbing strapping, the contour can be adjustable.
Dismantle
The backrest sections are attached to the wheelchair frame upright poles by two brackets.
To dismantle, there is a quick release lever on both brackets allowing the backrest to be lifted and removed from the wheelchair.
To put back on, the brackets have two parts which slot into the brackets on the wheelchair frame upright poles. The backrest can be locked in place by tightening the quick release levers.
Accessories
Swing away lateral supports which are width and height adjustable. These attach to the Vtrack mounting. The pads can be fitted in horizontal or vertical position. Two pad sizes are available.
Winged headrest can be adjusted laterally to open or reduce the angle on each side. It is adjustable in depth forwards and backwards, angle, height, rotation and position off centre.
Beanbag headrest is designed for comfort. It is adjustable in depth forwards and backwards, angle, height, rotation and position off centre.
Harness adaptors to anchor the belts.
Options are available to fit the brackets to different sized wheelchair frames.
