Short Description
This range includes two back supports which attach to or replace the existing slung backrest upholstery on a wheelchair. The FastBack consists of three densities of foam and in addition features an air flotation cushion. The Modular Back System combines a rigid plastic shell with three individually adjusted air flotation cushions. The air cushions are self inflating.

Varilite FastBack
The structure of the FastBack consists of three densities of foam, high density foam provides lateral support, medium density foam accomodates the shape of the body, and a central core of soft density foam to accommodate the spinal region.
The foam is contoured to provide lumbar support and accommodate the scapula and pelvic regions.
The foam is covered and bonded to nylon fabric which features an air bladder which is self inflating.
The rear of the back support features a thin sheet of high density polyethylene to provide additional support.
The FastBack is covered in a mesh fabric which also features a layer of reticulated foam.
The back has a hook to mount it onto the wheelchair or alternatively, the wheelchair upholstery can be replaced with FastBack upholstery, which attaches to the wheelchair back posts and will allow for depth adjustment.
Three sizes are available to fit wheelchairs from 14 to 19 inches wide.
Varilite Modular Back System
This support combines a rigid plastic shell with self inflating air cushions. The outer shell features structural reinforcements in the lumbar region.
Two or three air flotation cushions attach to the shell with hook and loop (Velcro) fasteners. The cushions allow for adjustment to the back angle, and provide pressure reduction. The three air cushions each feature their own valve and compartment allowing for different levels of air inflation if required for positioning. One large air cushion is featured in the thoracic region and two cushions are featured in the lumbar area.
The Modular Back System replaces the existing wheelchair backrest upholstery and attaches to the wheelchair by four drop hooks and attachment clips.
Two sizes are available to fit 15 to 18 inch wide wheelchairs.
The back support features a washable cover.
