Roho Contour Select Cushion

Short Description
This cushion consists of a series of air filled cells which can move independently. The manufacturer reports this as being Dry Flotation technology, enabling the user to be immersed in the cushion and be supported by air. This cushion consists of four quadrants of air cells which can be locked and unlocked to alter the air flow within the cushion. The surface of the cushion is contoured providing a well at the rear to assist in positioning the pelvis, as well as contouring to provide a pommel and shaping for the thigh region.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier details for pricing.

More Details
Material
The cushion is made of fire resistant neoprene rubber.
The cushion can be washed with soap and water or steam autoclaved.

Cover
The cover consists of two way stretch material.
It is removable and machine washable.
Slip resistant material is featured on the base of the cover.

Dry Flotation Technology
The manufacturer states there are 4 principles of the Dry Flotation Technology.
Roho cushions are constructed of individual cells that can move independently of each other, enabling the cushion to move with the user and contour to their shape.
The manufacturer states that the cellular design enables the user to immerse into the cushion creating low surface tension.
The manufacturer states that as a result of immersing into the cushion, forces and pressures pushing back against the person are kept equal at all points, resulting in greater contact area between the user and cushion.
The manufacturer indicates that the design of the surface of each cell as well as the ability of cells to move independently reduces friction and shear forces.

Features
The neoprene rubber is able to be patched or repaired if required due to punctures.
The manufacturer states that the separate air cells facilitate air circulation.
The cushion is provided with a cover, repair kit and hand inflation pump.
The shape of the cushion is achieved by varying the height of the individual air cells.

Method of Use in Setting Initial Air Level
It is recommended that professional advice be sought prior to and during inflation the cushion to ensure appropriate use and inflation levels.
Place the cushion on the chair or wheelchair on which it is to be used correct side up with the Isoflo Memory Control Unit facing forward.
Open the air valve in one corner of the cushion by turning counter clockwise.
Ensure the Isoflo Memory Control Unit is open.
Place the flexible hose of the hand pump over the valve and over inflate the cushion so it begins to slightly arch upwards.
Remove the pump and quickly close the air valve by turning it in a clockwise direction.
The user needs to sit centrally on the Roho cushion ensuring posture is correct.
Open the air valve allowing air to be released and the user to immerse into the cushion.
There should be approximately 40mm of air between the bony prominences of the user and the bottom of the cushion (this may be gauged by placing a hand between the bony prominences of the user and the cushion).
Close the air valve.

Adjustment of the Isoflo Memory Control
At the front of the cushion is the Isoflo Memory Control, a locking and unlocking mechanism for the cushion.
It is positioned in the middle of the front of the cushion, and is a small cylinder with a green button at one end and a red button at the other end.
When the red button is pushed in, it closes each quadrant of the cushion preventing air circulation between the four quadrants.
When the green button is pushed in, it opens each quadrant enabling air to circulate throughout the entire cushion.
Application
The manufacturer states that the Contour Select cushion is most effective for users who
Require a significant amount of postural support
Have poor to fair seated balance
Are at moderate to high risk of skin breakdown
Have symmetrical postures, or minimally asymmetrical postures
Sit in tilt and or recline systems
Have a diagnosis that will result in changes over time.

Customisation
To meet individual needs Roho cushions may be customised, such as the following.
Vary the number of valves and compartments.
Vary cell height.
Add or delete cell rows beyond dimensions of standard size models.
