Factors to Consider
There are many things to consider when selecting pressure care products including nutrition, skin moisture, level of mobility, age, shear, friction, location of pressure ulcer (if present) and hygiene. Any comments regarding level of pressure care is a suggestion made by suppliers as a guide to assist with selection, and this may differ from brand to brand. When selecting pressure care products it is strongly advised that a comprehensive assessment is undertaken by a health professional to encourage correct product selection and monitoring of product effectiveness.
The pressure reducing effectiveness of this cushion may be affected if the user does not sit in a symmetrical position. The user should be checked and monitored for bottoming out on this cushion.
This cushion needs to be maintained so the inflation level is not so low that the user is touching the surface under the cushion.
This cushion can get punctures, so may need repairs.
The movement of the cells and fluid gel can help reduce shear for those at risk of pressure ulcers.
The cover has a slip resistant base to reduce movement of the cushion during transfers and while changing position in the wheelchair.
This cushion has a low weight, which may be beneficial for lifting, or to keep the weight of the wheelchair down.
The supplier states this cushion is suitable for users at high risk of developing pressure ulcers.

Short Description
A wheelchair cushion made up of 48 air filled cells, each covered with a layer of silicon based gel. The cells are split into two separate air chambers allowing the air pressure to be adjusted differently on either side of the cushion. In addition, the cells towards the rear are contoured. When pressure is applied to the cushion, air circulates to each of the air cells to distribute the users weight evenly. The gel layer helps maintain body temperature and reduces the risk of shear and friction. Inflation is done through two separate valves using a pump and then deflated to a suitable level. Available in three sizes.

More Details
Adjustment
This cushion can be altered in degree of inflation by inflating it with the pump provided.

Method of Use
The cushion should be inflated until it is hard to touch.
Squeeze each valve to release air until no further air flows out.
Ensure the cushion is positioned with the valves to the rear of the chair.
Sit the user on the cushion.
Pinch the valves again and release air for approximately two seconds or until the user feels the most comfortable pressure. As air is released, the cushion will conform to the shape of the user.
Place your hand under the area of most bony prominence. The distance between the users bony prominence and the bottom of the cushion should be no less than 15mm.
The cushion should be properly inflated.
Check the level of inflation on a regular basis.
