Factors to Consider
There are many things to consider when selecting pressure care products including nutrition, skin moisture, level of mobility, age, shear, friction, location of pressure ulcer (if present) and hygiene. Any comments regarding level of pressure care is a suggestion made by suppliers as a guide to assist with selection, and this may differ from brand to brand. When selecting pressure care products it is strongly advised that a comprehensive assessment is undertaken by a health professional to encourage correct product selection and monitoring of product effectiveness.

The supplier states this cushion is suitable for users with spinal cord injuries where the ability to sweat has been compromised, users who have difficulty managing heat and users at risk of tissue maceration due to heat build up.

Short Description
This cushion is cellular and uses a choice of three cell sizes to pre-shape the cushion to the users support requirements. The cells are located in the centre and front of the cushion. A single continuous bladder extends from the front of the cushion along the sides and around part of the back. The cushion has a foam base and a waterproof nylon stretch cover. Suitable for users who are at moderate to high risk of developing pressure sores.

Features
The ProContour Comfort Cushion may assist with heat build up through the presence of cells of a Phase Change Material that can absorb up to 5.5°C from the seated surface for up to four hours
The cells are filled with Floam, which is an ultra lightweight fluid foam.
Suitable for people who are sedentary and at risk of skin breakdown. Also where posture and pressure correction is required.
Cannot bottom out.
12 standard cushion sizes are available.
Floam filled cells are fitted from beneath the cushion into colour matched pockets to pre-form a shape that suits most clients. Where specific postural correction is required eg a right pelvic tilt, the cells can be interchanged until a precise fit is achieved.
Floam flows to conform to shape, equalizing the pressure by hydrostatic means.
Floam does not spring back or flow back to a given shape so there is no back pressure.
Lightweight
Virtually shear free
Non toxic / non staining
Will not separate - does not need kneading
Not weather reactive or cold to touch.

Cell Types:
Small fill (blue) cells for areas where pressure is to be transferred from eg. sacral, ischial area.
Medium fill (black) cells and large fill (red) cells for areas where it is less risky to transfer pressure to.
Large fill (red) cells are also used for abduction and customisation.
Black cells are used under thighs and support the bulk of the users weight.
